Palo Blanco farms
Our Story

Rooted in Guatemala,
Grown for the World

One century of passion, hard work, and commitment to sustainable farming, this is the Palo Blanco story.

The Beginning

A Family's
Vision for the Land

It began in 1905 when Otto Bruderer emigrated to Guatemala from the canton of Appenzell in Switzerland and found employment as an accountant on the coffee plantation La Libertad y Anexos in the department of Quetzaltenango.

What started as a local operation supplying regional markets quickly attracted attention from international buyers who recognized the superior flavor and consistency of Palo Blanco's produce. By 1998, our first export container crossed the Atlantic to Europe.

Today, Palo Blanco is a vertically integrated agroindustrial company — from seed to shelf. But the family values that sparked it all remain at the core of every decision we make.
